Best of 2009 Travel: Part 2 of 10 - Holiday World
Tucked away in southern Indiana in the town of Santa Claus, Holiday World is the antithesis to the raucous experience encountered at larger amusement parks fueled by steel coasters and teetering drop towers. Coupled with a water park, Splashin’ Safari, Holiday world offers something for everyone in the family from kiddie rides for children to three world class wooden roller coasters for thrill seekers.
This year was my second visit to the park, and four or five rides on The Voyage, a wooden roller coaster in the Thanksgiving section of the park, cemented this park as one of my favorites in the country. The theming isn’t always elaborate and Indiana summers can be muggy but the free sunscreen, free soda, low admission prices and tasty food options more than make up for that.
